INDIAN INDENTURESHIP NOMINATION

The national Archives of Fiji is spearheading the compilation of a transnational nomination on Indian Indentureship. This nomination will collate the documentary heritage of this international system of labour which was the response of a number of European countries to the cessation of African enslavement.  Mr. Setareki Tale, Head of the National Archives of Fiji, is coordinating this nomination with support of the UNESCO office in Western Samoa.  Those in the Caribbean region based in countries where indentureship is part of their history are also being asked to contribute to this nomination.
