The 9th Memory of the World International Advisory Committee meeting in
Barbados July 2009 will consider approximately fifty five nominations, fifteen of which are from the Latin America and Caribbean region.

SUMMARY:
Here is a summary of how to submit a nomination to the International Register. Remember that proposals can be submitted by anyone!If you are interested in submitting a national nomination these are limited to two per session and must be submitted through the Barbados National Commission for UNESCO.
There are no limits to the number of regional or joint nominations.
What Can Be Submitted:
- Textual items such as manuscripts, books, newspapers etc.
- Non-textual items such as drawings, prints, maps and music
- Audiovisual materials such as film, discs, tapes and photographs
- Virtual materials such as websites or other electronic documents.
The Process:
(a) A nomination is prepared in the prescribed format.
(b) The nomination is submitted to the designated entity (MoW Barbados, Barbados National Commission or Memory of the World Secretariat, Paris).
(c) The nomination is evaluated by specialists in the appropriate field.
(d) An assessment is made by the Register Sub-Committee who make a recommendation to the International Advisory Committee (IAC).
(e) The International Advisory Committee reviews the nomination and the Register Sub-Committee assessment. It then sends its recommendation to UNESCO's Director General.
(f) A decision is made by UNESCO's Director-General
